| Five of our pilots participated in the Ocala Club 40
Race. All five returned home with their planes. A little damage
to a couple but nothing fatal. The top covering on my right
wing slowly left the wing but I finished the three remaining
laps of the race and landed without it. Scary moments. Jim
Rogers loaned me his wing and I finished twice in second
place with his wing.
Keath Toney had someone's propeller take a chunk out of his
wing tip but with some tape he flew again to 2 first places.
Bob Holbrook had an engine failure on the first heat and
came back to win the next 2 heats. Larry Krutz lost a glow
plug during a heat but had 2 succesful heats with out
mishaps. Charlie Weber completed all three heat races with
out any problems. The race committee excelled in running
this event |
