Leesburg Community Center

Call to order:  7:05 P.M - 20 members present.

Sec. Report:  The March minutes were approved by vote.

Treas. Report:  Tom Craig – The club is financially sound and current with all bills.  If you have questions regarding club finances, please feel free to contact Tom.

Membership Report:  Ralph Savino – The current paid membership for 2008 thus far is 140.  Our target membership is 150 to 165 individuals.

Field Safety:  Dave Woodward/Pratt Carter – There is still an abundance of flight mishaps at the field.  If you feel that you could use some help at times, please just ask another member.  The safety of others is at stake.

Field Report:  Don Baisden –  Absent.  No report.

New Business:  Jack Hostetler – Permit fees for new shelter...  With a vote of 11 to 6 the club approved a motion to pay all permit fees a.s.a.p. rather than wait for a possible exemption of some fees to be determined at the next city departmental meeting.  This will expedite the construction of the new shelter.  Total fees are estimated at around $200.
Field mowing… Still need a volunteer to help with mowing.  Please contact Jack.  It was determined that all members at the field on the day of mowing (usually Thursdays) should help move flight stations and chairs out of the way so the people that are mowing can quickly pass through the pit area with the large mowers.  Flight Training & Ground School… A new program is being formulated for incoming SES members.  A unanimous vote was given to continue our meetings at the Leesburg Community Center next year.  A new contract will be signed.

NOTICE… There will be no club meetings during the months of July and August.

Meeting Adjourned:  8:00 P.M.

50/50:  Drawing won by Norm Paddock,  $26.00.

Tech Session:  An excellent presentation on the application of heat shrink coverings was given by Bill Proffit.  Bill uses regular “hair spray” to coat the wood surfaces first before applying the covering.  When heat is applied it acts as an additional adhesive for a stronger bond.  Interesting…
