April 19, 2007 meeting minutes
Leesburg Community Center
Call to order 7:00 PM 17 members present.
Minutes last meeting The minutes from the March 15, 2007 meeting were posted on the club web site and were made available at the field to read.
Treas. Report The treasures's report was given by Tom Craig. Two new mowers have been purchased. The club is in good financial standing. The last large expense will be the new shelter building coming soon.
Membership Report Ralph Savino reported that the club has 145 paid up members to date. Four new members joined last month. The new club caps are now available. See Ralph.
Field Safety Still having a problem with spectators getting too close to pilot/plane areas. All spectators must stay behind fences. Signs will be made soon to address this issue. Also, use the appropriate runway depending on wind conditions. Don't keep flying on the E/W runway if the wind is N/S. There have been problems with the planes being blown toward the pilot/ pit area upon landing. This is a safety issue.
Field Restoration Don Baisden reported that the flight stations are finished on the E/W runway. The N/S runway is nearly finished also and will include five stations. The new shelter building will be erected as soon as county paperwork is signed off. Hopefully this will be done by the end of May.
New Business The club still needs flight instructors. Please see Jack Hostetler if you can help. There will be no club meetings June-July-August. Meetings will continue in September at the Leesburg Community Center. A motion was made, seconded, and passed to keep the meetings at the Center for the next year. The facility is very nice and is large enough to accommodate our needs. Also a motion was made, seconded, and passed to designate Thursdays as the preferred mowing day. If possible try to do your mowing responsibilities on that day.
Meeting adjourned 7:47 PM
Tech Session Club member Don Baisden gave a talk on carb adjustment and engine operation for planes. Much information was exchanged and everyone enjoyed the session. More of these types of sessions will be planned in the future.
50/50 An $18 pot was won by Bill Pope.
