MINUTES December 15, 2005

Call To Order: 7.05 p.m. 24 members present. A new member, Phil Hensly of Wiersdale and his son P J were present. Aircraft and all assoc. equipment that was donated to the club, by Jack Whittington were given to P J for finishing.

Minutes Last Meeting; Posted at field and sent to members via E-Mail. A motion was made to accept the minutes as presented by Alex Ogilvie, seconded by Dick Pierce and carried unanimously.

Dumb Thumb Award: Bob Campbell was nominated as the recipient. Bob lost two planes in 20 minutes. The wing of one is still in the tree as a lasting memorial to Bob’s skill.

Treasurer’s Report:  Ralph presented reports on the Swap Meet and the Fly In. Both events were modestly profitable to the club. Lack of membership attendance at both events was troubling.  These Events are a source of funds for the club. The events were made more profitable by a Sky Raider donated by Jack Noell, a Giles 3D donated by Bob Holbrook and a ready to cover plane from Bob Campbell. Rethinking the timing of these events was suggested in an attempt to increase attendance in the future. Ralph reported that dues are coming in and the club finances are in fairly good shape. Motions were made and seconded to approve these reports and carried unanimously.

Membership Report:  Ralph stated that current membership is 168 but new membership this year was only half the new members for the previous year.

Field Safety: President Reeves stated that safety at the field was improving.  He noted that communication at the flight line was much improved

New Business:  The President told the club that Ralph Savino had purchased a new scanner from Jack Noell to replace the one that was stolen. Dennis is retaining it in his possession until a safe storage place can be found.

Old Business: The attempt to get some road gravel for the field access rd. fell through due to timing and logistics. Another attempt, but using crushed asphalt is being tried. Dennis also reminded the membership of the Pylon Race and Cub Scout build and fly on Saturday the 17th of Dec.  Help is still needed for both events. He noted that items for sale can be advertised on our Web Page and photographs can be placed there. Access can be made thru the “Viking link” on the web page.

Nominations For Elections:  Attendees were given a Nomination Forms so they could consider nominees for the elections in January. He stated “New blood” is necessary on the board of officers.

Thank You Jack:  A special thank you and a Gift Certificate to Outback Stake House were given to Jack Noell and Susan for there support of the club. They both deserve the clubs thanks.

50/50 Drawing: Dick Farver was the winner of  $32 on the 50/50 and a $10 gift certificate from Jack Noell.  Peter Haughwout also doubled up by being drawn twice for $10 gift certificates from Jack Noel
