December 17, 2009 SES Meeting Minutes

Leesburg Community Center

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by president Don Neal,

19 members were present.

Sue Noell was introduced to the group. She spoke on behalf of Hospice of Sumter County, in support of a Fly-in in their behalf. the flying site at Hospice House was discussed and Don Baisden and Pratt Carter were appointed to "check it out". The fly-in was tentatively set for April 24 with the 25th as a rain date

Treasurer’s report was not available.

President Neal gave a report of funds given to SES by the estate of Charlie Weber.

Ralph Savino moved that a memorial plaque for Charlie be obtained and appropriately displayed at the field. Motion was duly seconded and passed.       

Membership report: Currently we have 161 members paid for 2009.  Gene will be the new membership chairman.

Field report was given by Don Baisden. Things are looking well.

Old business –

The roof repairs are still being waited upon.

New business-

Don Neal presented the possibility of obtaining a large building for use as an indoor flying site. Discussion followed and we will look into such a site.

The nominating committee presented its slate of officers for 2010. The present   officers will be retained and secretary slot will be filled when a volunteer is found. This was passed unanimously.

 The 50/50 was won by Dr. Larry Foster.

 Meeting was adjourned at 7:40PM.
