Southern Eagle Squadron
February 15, 2007 meeting minutes
Recreation Plantation Resort

Call to order  6:00 P.M.   42 members present.

Minutes last meeting  Minutes from the January 18th, 2007 meeting were posted on the club website and were made available at the field for members to obtain.

Treas. Report  The treasures' report was given by Tom Craig.  Several donations have been coming in from many different sources.  The AMA has given $1000 towards the rebuilding effort.  Also several club members have donated.  A Louisiana R/C club has promised $500.  The club's initial expenses have been met in getting the field flyable.  However much more will be needed when the shelter units are purchased.  If you have any questions regarding club finances, please feel free to contact the treasurer.

Membership Report  As of February 14, 2007 the paid up membership is 117.  Nine new people have become members since January.  Two have rejoined.  Also, new club caps will be available soon.  They will be a Khaki colored material rather than the current blue foam and mesh.  This was voted on by the members at the meeting.  See Ralph Savino for more info.

Field Safety  We are still having communication problems at the field.  Please announce your intentions as you take off and land or go out onto the field to retrieve your plane.  Accidents are happening because of this problem.  Also, all pilots must use the flight stations when flying with a maximum of 6 aircraft in the air at any given time.  Please do not fly from any other location on the field except the stations.

New Business   There was much discussion regarding field restoration and finances.  It was determined that the field (both runways) would be made completely operational with stations, barriers, tables, seats, etc. before any decisions would be made with regard to shelters which will be the most expensive purchases.  Currently flight stations and fences are in place for the East-West runway.  There was some question as to whether they were installed per AMA guidelines.  They were.  AMA only recommends certain criteria and it is up to each club to set up their field depending on their individual circumstances.   A motion was made and seconded to spend up to $1000 to get the N-S runway set up with stations, tables, etc.  Passed.  A new steel container was purchased for storing mowers and equipment.  A club member has donated a nearly new walk behind power mower to the club for cutting grass in the smaller areas.  We still need two larger mowers for the field.  Prices are being obtained with information.  The club generator is being repaired.  No word yet on when the county will replace the fence around the field.  Hopefully soon.  The club still needs a better place to meet with more space available.  An idea was presented to have a dinner/meeting at a restaurant facility.  A vote was taken.  Declined.  Please keep looking.  We may get some county funds next Oct. 1 as their new budget begins.  The field will be considered a "park" by that time and under the control of the Parks & Rec. department.

Many thanks to all who helped with the cleanup and rebuilding work.  We were flying within 5 days of the tornado's damage.  It was only because of the hard work of many of you that this was possible.  From all of the club officers...THANK YOU!!!

50/50 Pot  A $30 pot was won and then donated back to the treasury.  Thanks.

Adjourned  A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:45 P.M.
