February 21, 2008 SES Meeting Minutes
Leesburg Community Center

Call to order:  7:00 P.M - 20 members present.

Sec. Report:  The January minutes were approved by vote.

Treas. Report:  Tom Craig – The  treasurer’s report was given by President Jack Hostetler.  Tom was absent.

Membership Report:  Ralph Savino – The current paid membership is 123 so far this year.  If you are planning on continuing your membership with the club please pay your dues a.s.a.p.  Club hats and name tags are available through Ralph.

Field Safety:  Dave Woodward/Pratt Carter – A first aid safety kit was purchased and will be available at the field.  A number of crashes have occurred lately some possibly due to exhausted flight batteries.  Always check your battery with a voltmeter.  Also, if you are experiencing a loss of control of your model, please yell with a “heads up” or something to alert others of the situation and avoid a possible injury or worse.

Field Report:  Don Baisden – Additional fill will be brought in for the parking area near the N/S runway since this is a low area and tends to retain water.

New Business:  Jack Hostetler –  Flight safety is becoming an issue at the field.  Several crashes have occurred recently.  Some pilots are still inadvertently flying over the Transfer Station or “re-cycle center” at the North end of the field.  At least one crash has occurred there already.  Some of the employees are getting “nervous” when aircraft get near their area.  Understandably so.  Please… do not fly anywhere near that area.  Also, a new flight training program is being designed for all new members.  It will consist of a comprehensive Ground School and a more defined flight instruction procedure with a flight proficiency focus.  Pratt Carter and Terry Merrill are working on this project.  More information will be forthcoming.

Aircraft I.D. – AMA I.D. tags for your model are available through Jack Hostetler.  (20 for $1.50)  This is important.

 Meeting Adjourned:  8:05 P.M.

50/50:  Drawing won by Ken Mitchell.  $22.50

Tech Session:  An excellent presentation on flight trimming was given by Bill Proffitt.  A nice handout with a trimming chart was distributed also.  Thanks Bill.
