January 15, 2009 SES Meeting Minutes Leesburg Community Center Call to order: 7:00 P.M. - 23 members were present. Sec. Report: The December 2008 minutes were approved as written. Treas. Report: Tom Craig - The club is in good shape financially. If you have any questions please see Tom. Membership Report: Ralph Savino - There are currently 105 paid memberships for 2009. Renewals are running late so if you haven’t renewed your membership for 2009 please do so as soon as you can. You must have AMA membership before joining SES. Field Safety: Dave Woodward/Pratt Carter - Please note…if you have inadvertently violated airspace rules and are asked to land for safety reasons, PLEASE do so. Don’t offer excuses and don’t argue. If you have jeopardized the safety of others you will be asked to land. Field Report: Don Baisden - If you crash anywhere on the field please clean up the debris so others can land safely. Old Business: The December SES Swap Meet for 2009 has been changed to November 28th, 2009. This is due to conflicts with other clubs and events scheduled for early December. Attendee security will be increased this year also so that all persons must enter through the main entrance. New Business: Don Neal - Our annual election was held last month and a unanimous vote was given to Donald Neal for President and Jim Soltysiak for V.P. They took office tonight January 15, 2009. The current Treasurer, Tom Craig, will continue serving another year. However the current Secretary, Terry Merrill, will resign effective the February meeting due to relocation to Alabama in March. Club member Mr. Larry Fortna volunteered to serve as Secretary and will need to be officially elected at the February meeting. Thank you Larry. V.P. Jim Soltysiak will be in charge of the flight instructors list and schedule. It was decided that the club should re-commission the club trainers and begin to use them again for training. Club sponsored Pylon Races will be coming up February 18th. Please contact Tom Craig if you can help. There was discussion regarding the sponsoring of community type events such as the Scouts and Hospice. This will be looked into. Our club only fun fly was also mentioned with more discussion to follow. Meeting adjourned: 7:55 P.M. 50/50: The winning ticket was drawn and “Mr.lucky” Zandy Ogilvie. He won the $32 pot. Zandy also won last month. Tech Session: Don Baisden gave excellent information regarding the sizing and flying of electric foam biplanes. Don is very knowledgeable in the area of electrics.
