June 18, 2009 SES Meeting Minutes
Call to order: 7:00 P.M. - 19 members were present. Sec. Report: The March 2009 minutes were approved with one correction. Membership. Report::Ralph Savino reported that the current membership is 150. Bob Campbell is still in ICU but expected to be come out in a few days. Treas. Report: Tom Craig - Treasurer Report was given by Tom Craig and passed around for members to view. Field Report: Don Baisden –The north south runway has been graded and a new retainer fence installed to help with erosion. Grass seed is slow to germinate. The south section of the runway can be used so long as the parking area remains firm enough to support vehicles. Field Safety: No Safety issues in particular at this time. Old Business: Regarding electricity at the field, we are waiting for survey and Gary Debo is looking into gate access. Orlando Steel has been paid to repair roof of the pavilion but have not started work as yet. The new flag pole and light were installed. The missing transmitter has been located and will be returned to its owner. Tom Craig looked into putting our funds into CD's but it was determined it was not worth the effort. Tana Balls have been ordered. New Business: We need volunteers for mowing as we are short a few people due to various circumstances. We need 9 volunteers for the upcoming pylon race July 18th. Donaations will be taken for hambergers served at the event. The issue of property damage caused by out of control aircraft was brought up with reference to amending the by-laws to clarify who is responsible for paying for any such damages. A lengthly discussion ensued and a motion to accept the final resolution of the wording was made and seconded. Issues pertaining to instructors was the biggest contention. A motion was made and seconded to accept the by-law changes as worded below: ARTICLE IX Property Damage SECTION 1: In the event that an aircraft causes damage to any of the structures, fences, equipment or other property located at the flying field, resolution of that event will be decided by the Field Committee. The Field Committee is composed of the Field Manager and two members selected by the Field Manager and approved by the membership. The Field Committee will decide on the cost to the owner of the aircraft, if any, and formulate a plan to repair the damage. If the member pilot refuses to pay the repair cost, his/her membership will be changed to a Member in Bad Standing with revoked flying privileges until the situation is resolved. The member in bad standing will be reinstated at a later time only on the recommendation of the field committee. This rule is subject to change at future time. A motion was made and approved to draft a hold harmless form for instructors. Larry Fortna volunteered to contact the AMA for guidance in drafting this form.
