March 20, 2008 SES Meeting Minutes
Leesburg Community Center
Call to order: 7:06 P.M - 15 members
present.
Sec. Report: The February minutes were approved by vote.
Treas. Report: Tom Craig – Absent. The
treasurer’s report was given by President Jack Hostetler. The recent Club
Fun Fly was a financial success with the club nearly breaking even. Most of
the costs were recovered through donations and raffles.
Membership Report: Ralph Savino – The
current paid membership is 139 so far this year. If you are planning
on continuing your membership with the club please pay your dues a.s.a.p.
Club hats and name tags are available through Ralph. We’ve had 11 new
members join thus far for 2008.
Field Safety: Dave Woodward/Pratt Carter
– Absent.
Field Report: Don Baisden – No issues.
New Business: Jack Hostetler – A
permanent mowing team member is needed to help fill in a vacancy on one of
the teams. Please see Jack if you can help. A committee is once again
trying to obtain a permit for a more permanent “car port” type structure to
replace the current shelter on the E/W runway. The size would be 18x36 with
a metal roof. Cost would be approximately $2500 plus permit fees.
SES Fun Fly Report: Finally, after
waiting for the wind to subside for a week the club was able to sponsor a
“members only” Fun Fly on March 15, 2008. About 80 people attended the
event and enjoyed FREE hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, cake, and soft
drinks. Events were limited to a Spot Landing Contest. Also, a special
helicopter demonstration was given by Pete Campbell (Miniature Aircraft
Co.). It was free style and absolutely amazing. All in all, a very
successful “get together” for the club members and their families. Thank
you to all that worked so hard to make it happen.
Meeting Adjourned: 7:35 P.M.
50/50: Drawing won by Carl Angleberger –
gallon of fuel, Nancy Baisden - $9.50, Turner Conrad – DVD of Club Fun Fly,
Norm Paddock – DVD of Club Fun Fly.
Tech Session: An excellent presentation
on e-powered aircraft was given by Don Baisden. A nice handout was
distributed also. Thanks Don.
