May 15, 2008 SES Meeting Minutes
Leesburg Community Center 

Call to order:  7:02 PM - 22 members were present representing a necessary quorum for bylaws changes/amendments.

 Sec. Report:  The April minutes were approved by vote.

 Treas. Report:  Tom Craig – The club is financially sound.  If you have questions regarding club finances, please feel free to contact Tom. 

 Membership Report:  Ralph Savino – The current paid membership for 2008 thus far is 145.  Our target membership is 150 to 165 individuals. We’re doing well. 

 Field Safety:  Dave Woodward/Pratt Carter – A suggestion was made to locate fire extinguishers at each shelter as a safety measure.  Tom Craig will look into this.   

 Field Report:  Don Baisden –  There will be six new airplane assembly tables built in the near future.  Don will be getting materials soon.  A construction day will be called to complete  the project.

New Business:  Jack Hostetler – The club needs new freq. pins for each runway freq. board.  The current pins are fading and it is getting difficult to read the channel numbers.  Tom Craig did some research on new pins and brought an example to the meeting.  After discussion the club voted unanimously to purchase the less costly sticker type pin label and authorized Tom to purchase same.  The cost will be approximately $200.  The clubs bylaws have been completely updated with changes necessary to coincide with our actual operations.  This has been long overdue.  After reviewing all changes recommended by the board with some slight modifications, a unanimous vote was given for approval.  The new bylaws will become effective immediately.  They will be posted on club website.  The last amendments to the bylaws were made in 1994. 

NOTICE… There will be no club meetings during the months of July and August.

 Tech Session:  The tech session was cancelled due to time devoted to the bylaws amendments.
