Minutes for November17, 2005 Meeting
Call to order 7:00 P.M. 37 members present. One new member, Dave Baker.
Minutes last meeting: Posted at field and sent to members via “E” mail. Motion made to accept the minutes as presented by Lenny Lesnefski and seconded by Dick Pierce.
Treasurer’s report: Treasurer Ralph Savino gave the treasurers report as of October 31st. Printed copies were given to Pres. Reeves and Secretary Antonio. Motion made by Larry Krutz to accept as presented and seconded by Dick Pierce.
Membership report: 165 members to date, including 2 new members for November. New members for 2005 total 22. Last year at this time we had 42. Next year’s dues should be paid by December 31st. January 15th is the cut off date for flying privileges at the field. Warning note: Members who will be flying during the swap meet on Saturday, Nov. 26th will be at risk of being shot down by interference from transmitters turned on at the Recreation Plantation swap meet.
Field Safety: The only legitimate complaints that will be accepted by Pres. Reeves will be about members who have received help and instructions from fellow flyers and continue to fly in an inappropriate and unsafe manner. Every member has an obligation to help & instruct new flyers.
Old business: Last meetings proposed liner to be laid parallel to the runway has been put on hold. It is requested that some members, who attend the swap meet on Nov. 26th , remain after the meet to help get the Recreation Plantation hall put back in order. Jack Noell will donate a combat airplane that we can use to raffle off at the door. S E S is sponsoring a Flying for Community Service event for Cub Scout Pac 306 of Wildwood on December 3rd and after the Pylon Race on December 17th. Our club has purchased 80 airplanes at a cost of $76.00 for the event. Also Pres. Reeves is donating a Trainer Aircraft for use during the event. Free hot dogs and sodas will be given to the Cub Scouts.
New business: A work party needs to be organized to spray or knock down the weeds along the access road and at the entrance. (Which block the view of the traffic on Rolling Acres Road). Two weed wackers are available in the barn, if any member finds time to go to the field and at least take care of the weeds at the entrance, it would be greatly appreciated. Bob Leohner needs volunteers to assist in parking and other duties at the Saturday, Dec. 10th Fly-In. Sign up sheets will be passed around. Reminder: Members phone numbers are posted on the Southerneaglesquadron.com web site.
Officer Elections Officer elections will be held at the regular membership meeting on January 20, 2006. Nomination forms will be made available at the field and e-mailed to members.
Open discussion: Pres. Reeves suggested that we locating a cook shack next to the access road, where a proposed power line could be located.
50/50: Bob Leohner won $36.00 cash and Ron Southall won the $10.00 gift certificate to Jack Noells hobby shop.
