Minutes   Oct. 20, 2005

Call to Order  7:00 P.M. Noells Hobby shop, Wildwood, Fla.  32 members were present.

New members   One new member present, Arnold Holmes

Minutes last meeting   Sept. meeting minutes were posted on the Internet, copies available at the field and also sent to members via E-mail.  A motion was made to accept minutes as presented by Jack Hostetler and seconded by Dick Pierce.

Treasurer Report   Treasurer Ralph Savino gave the treasurer report as of August 31st   copies were given to pres. Dennis Reeves and to secretary Bill Antonio. A motion was made to accept the report as read by Dave Miller and seconded by Len Lesnefsky. Ralph also discussed “Where’s the Money??” regarding the recent newspaper article indicating that the club had received some $46K in donations from the county From 1993 to present year. The error was due to a missing line item in the report. Actually the club received  $12K in 2001 and this has been verified to our club records. There was mention of an official retraction by the paper to set the record straight but none to date.

Membership report   We have three new members this month bringing our membership to 163 for 2005. Ralph “officially” welcomed back the snowbirds in attendance. New membership cards are being implemented that will have a permanent card with replaceable stickers for new years. This will be done on a monthly basis as members renew. Also a new type of frequency pin will be tried for two months (Channels 15, 33, 35, 47, and 51) will be using the new pins.  The current system works well but the pins break easily and require replacement often.

Field safety Members are reminded that flying over or near Rolling Acres Road should be avoided. There have been several “near misses” recently. When we see a fellow pilot in trouble we should help him get his plane under control.

Old Business

-               We still have club license plates left @ $16.00 each.

-               The Fun Fly held on 10/15 was great. We even made a few $$.

-               The upcoming Swap Meet needs additional help –contact Ralph.

-                The Flying for Community Service project will be Saturdays in November and December at the field.  Cub Scout Pack 306 from Wildwood will provide the kids. We will assemble and fly AMA Delta Dart rubber band powered aircraft. This will be followed by buddy box trainer flights for the kids. Exact dates to be determined.

-               “Plane in Tree Award” was given to Roy Field for setting his twin down/up in a tree.

-               “Dumb Thumb Award” was earned by Ralph Savino. Ralph attempted to see how many loops his Avistar would do (like in the fun fly) the count was cut short by the ground!

New business

-               Both runways are open and usable. Mower crews have done an excellent job. Dave Miller is considering reorganizing the mowing operation to make better use of the available help.

-               A work party to clean up the access road weeds will be scheduled in the next few weeks.

-               There will be a Fun Fly at the field on December 10. Bob Loehner is the event director. Workers will be needed, Contact Bob at 357-6447 to help.

-               “Plastic Liner Runway”, Roy Field discussed using the liner at the field to provide a flat surface runway in addition to the two grass strips. This would consist of cutting a non-mowed area next to the grass strip, leveling the ground and putting down the liner as runway material. Roy is verifying that we can use the liner material with the county. He will report the project details and costs at future meetings. (A study of the cost and work needed was approved by a show of hands)

-               “Saturday Cookouts”, a “Sponsor” sign up sheet will be posted at the field. Requirements are about 20 hot dogs and buns and a bag of ice. The Club will provide soda and condiments.

-

50/50

Drawing was held. Two winners a) $31.00, b) $10.00 gift certificate donated by Jack Noell. Ron Niehuis won the cash and Len Lesnefsky won the gift certificate.
