Folker Eindecker III

The Build
Finished Project

Here is my latest project; a Folker Eindecker III. Built from plans from Sid Morgan Plans. It is 1/6 scale. The full-size used wing warping for roll control. I chose to pass on that less than effective method and will control with just rudder and the full-flying horizontal stab/elevator. Power will be an OS 40 to try to mimic the flight speed of the full size 100 hp Oberursel U.I. rotary. Here it is (shown above) “in the bones” except for mounting the aluminum cowl and the OS 40.

Wire wheels

I also built these “wire” wheels to the right scale since none were available in the correct size. The spokes are tensioned “Spyder wire” fishing line, chosen because it will not stretch.

Below is the David Hayes entry in the 2022 Top Gun Masters Class competition being static judged by Rich Uravitch and three stand-off judges. David won Mr. Top Gun in 2008 and 2009 with a 1/3.5 scale Ayers model crop duster that sprayed the field at 5’ altitude with his secret “love-bug killer” better known as baby powder.
