Southern Eagle Squadron membership requires AMA membership, you will also be asked to have an FAA number and accomplish The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST).

Associations

FAA Registration Number – If you fly your own RC Aircraft (fixed wing or helicopter), you must register with the FAA

Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) – AMA is the world’s largest model aviation association, representing a membership of more than 170,000 from every walk of life, income level and age group and is the chartering organization for more than 2,500 model airplane clubs across the country. AMA offers its chartered clubs official contest sanction, insurance, and assistance in getting and keeping flying sites. AMA membership application web page

FAA Registration – Effective December 21, 2015, anyone who owns a small unmanned aircraft of a certain weight must register with the Federal Aviation Administration’s Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) registry before they fly outdoors

FAA Trust Test – FAA has mandated that all recreational flyers take the TRUST (The Recreational UAS Safety Test). All UAS (unmanned aircraft system) users must pass the [super-easy. impossible to fail] test in order to operate a recreational model aircraft (UAS) within the National Airspace System (NAS). Trust Test Videos
