The 2026 Fun Fly was held on March 28 for members and their families and guests. Sunny weather and moderate winds created a great turnout to witness the complete mastery of the air demonstrated by the contestants. The ladies auxiliary pitched in to serve yummy free hotdogs, baked beans, and cookies. Once again, the crowd was estimated at something less than a million!
COMPETITION consisted of:
- Spot Landing Event – Cut power and glide to a stop closest to the designated hula-hoop.
- Bob McWilliams at 12’
- Marc Drath at 16’ 8”
- David Carpenter at 24’ 8”
- Loop Event – How many “loop-de-loops” a pilot can perform in one minute.
- Bob Osorio 15 plus 17 in shootout
- David Wells 15 plus 7 in shootout
- Bob McWilliams and Marc Drath tie with 13
- Longest Glide – Climb to the moon, cut power, glide to a landing.
- Marc Drath 2 minutes plus!
- Bob McWilliams 1 minute 30 seconds
- Timed Loop-and-Land – Fastest time to do two loops at each end of the field and land.
- Marc Drath 19 seconds
- Bob McWilliams 36 seconds
Many thanks to the brave contestants, but most especially to the hard work of all those who helped organize and produce another great Fun Fly.
